Here are some suggestions, a few labels from the countless excellent wineries in our country—north to south, east to west.
CANTINA DI BOLZANO – South Tyrol
Cantina Bolzano has a long history. It all began with the wine cellar of the episcopal church of Freising where, in 1908, 30 courageous winegrowers decided to found a cooperative. In 1930, eighteen winegrowers from St. Magdalena also founded a wine cooperative. After World War II, the two cellars joined forces, and 50 years later Cantina Bolzano as we know it was born. Today, 224 members own and cultivate 350 hectares of vineyards. Descending from noble lineages or farming families, they live and work in farmsteads or historic residences, cultivating vineyards on steep slopes with fifteen different grape varieties.
TAL 1930 • Südtirol Alto Adige DOC
A blend of 80% Chardonnay with 10% Sauvignon and 10% Pinot Grigio.
A Superior cuvée born from the dedication and expertise of the oenologists constantly seeking the highest quality. The result is a white wine of great elegance and presence, with notable structure, fascinating aromas, and a long, fresh, balanced finish.
Bachmann Pinot Nero Riserva Südtirol • Alto Adige DOC 2022
A full expression of this grape variety, which has found strong identity and territorial expression on the slopes of Alto Adige.
From vineyards at 600–700 meters above sea level, this Pinot Noir (or Blauburgunder) delivers the grape’s pure soul through precise aromas and a smooth, mountain-charmed palate.
KOMJANC ALESSIO – Friuli
A beautiful story of family, passion, and professionalism dating back to 1888.
The winery is located on the slopes of San Floriano del Collio, in a splendid panoramic position overlooking the hills and the Eastern Alps.
The founder is Alessio, whose great-grandparents began producing wine in the 19th century. As early as 1888, wine by Florjan Komjanc received its first award, judged “good and perfect” by a Viennese commission selecting the best wines for the 40th anniversary of the emperor.
Alessio founded his own company and bottled his first wine under the “Alessio Komjanc” label in 1973. Today he is assisted in the vineyards and cellar by his four sons: Beniamin, Roberto, Patrik, and Ivan.
Pinot Bianco – San Floriano del Collio
Character, identity, and freshness. The nose is full and inviting, the palate fragrant, clean, and precise. The grape’s character is elevated with great skill.
Bratje – Collio DOC White Wine
In the local border language, “Bratje” means “brothers”, like the four Komjanc brothers and the four grape varieties in this blend: Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Malvasia, and Picolit. A harmonious union, like the sip—gentle, passionate, and distinctly Friulian.
MIRABELLA FRANCIACORTA
The Schiavi family’s winery, one of the most appreciated in the region for the quality of its Franciacorta for over forty years, is among the twelve founding members of the Franciacorta Consortium.
Another wonderful family story: father Teresio and sons Alessandro and Alberto have created a consistently growing, high-quality winery.
DØM Riserva Dosaggio Zero
Sunset-colored in the glass, with unique and intriguing notes, and a palate of elegant intensity and excellent bubbles.
Edea Franciacorta Brut Rosé
Mirabella was a pioneer in the Rosé category, and this Edea proves it—emotional and enveloping, with a velvety, caressing sip.
Fattoria di Grignano – Tuscany
In the early 1970s, the estate became the property of the Inghirami family of Borgo Sansepolcro, well-known in Italian fashion-textiles.
Over the years, Fattoria di Grignano has become a dynamic, historic producer of wine and olive oil, with 600 hectares of land (50 under vine and 200 under olive groves).
Today, Tommaso Inghirami leads the estate with a professional team, bringing contemporary vision while honoring the family’s history and territory.
Singersangio IGT Toscana
One of Tommaso Inghirami’s new, brilliant projects: a modern, well-made Sangiovese, highly drinkable and linear. The name unites his passion for sewing machines (of which he is a collector) and the iconic Rufina grape.
“Poggio Gualtieri” Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG
Intense and complex with rich red-fruit aromas. Barrel ageing adds depth and character.
Cantina di Venosa – Basilicata
This cooperative counts 350 members and 800 hectares of vineyards, making it one of the most important in southern Italy.
Their wines, from the extraordinary Vulture territory, have won numerous prestigious awards. A passionate team works with the conviction that the land is a shared heritage to be valued through its vineyards and wines.
Tansillo Pas Dosé – Quality Sparkling Wine – Metodo Classico Rosé – 60 Lune
“Tansillo 60 months” is a Metodo Classico made from 100% Aglianico del Vulture, aged long on the lees. A demonstration of Aglianico’s incredible potential in complex, high-quality methods.
The palate is fresh yet enveloping, dynamic, powerful, and savory, with long mineral notes recalling volcanic soil. Fine, persistent, almost creamy bubbles.
Matematico
A great red wine: a Bordeaux-style Italian Merlot. Aged six months in French barrique, offering balance, charm, identity, and broad aromas.
Jerzu Antichi Poderi – Sardinia
“S’unione faghet sa forza” means “unity is strength” and is the motto of this high-quality Sardinian cooperative.
Founded in 1950, it now has 400 members cultivating 500 hectares in Ogliastra.
Since 2010, the president has been Marcello Usala. The winemaking has been overseen for thirty years by Franco Bernabei, alongside Nicolò Miglior (great-grandson of founder Josto Miglior).
Commercial director Franco Usai ensures strategic direction.
Josto Miglior Cannonau di Sardegna DOC Riserva
Great drinkability, refined simplicity, aromas of fruit and earth. The palate balances acidity and freshness—inviting a second glass immediately.
Cinquesse Cannonau di Sardegna DOC Jerzu
Dedicated to the artistic project developed with the Maria Lai Foundation.
Maria Lai chose five elements to describe the territory and its wine: “furrow, stone, sun, axe, salt”.
The wine is similarly complex, crafted with courageous choices in vineyard and cellar.
Cantine Paololeo – Puglia
Founded in 1989 in Salento, based in San Donaci within the Negroamaro Park.
The project was created by Paolo Leo, later joined by his children Nicola, Stefano, Francesco, and Alessandro.
The winery focuses on native grapes—Primitivo, Negroamaro, Malvasia Bianca and Nera—and recently acquired the historic Candido winery, contributing to regional preservation.
Mormora Metodo Classico Pas Dosé
Mormora is a submerged breath: the first Pas Dosé Metodo Classico by Paololeo, aged underwater in the protected marine area of Porto Cesareo.
Made from native Verdeca and Maresco, the bottles rest for twelve months beneath the sea. Romantic, poetic, and unique.
Susumaniello Valle d’Itria IGP – Susumaniello Rosso
The name refers to its high productivity (“loaded like a little donkey”). Long under-valued, Paololeo has embraced this grape to produce a structured, modern, and aromatic red.
Terre di Maria – Puglia
In Orta Nova (Foggia), where the Dauni, Romans, Frederick II, and great 19th-century families cultivated vineyards.
Today, the Terre di Maria winery continues this tradition. Maria Pasquariello inherited the oenological passion from her father and grandfather, passing it on to her son Cataldo Faretra, who carries it forward with enthusiasm and success.
Neolitico Nero di Troia Puglia IGP
A symbol of Puglian winemaking tradition, crafted with care and passion. From selected grapes, it offers structure, harmony, and elegant aromas.
Torreclava Primitivo – 100% Organic
A pure Primitivo from vineyards planted in 1976 by the family of Roberto Giacobbo, now part of Terre di Maria. A full-bodied red with a velvety, enveloping sip—like a caress. A story of families continuing together.
Note: Terre di Maria also produces excellent bronze-cut durum-wheat pasta—perfect for the holidays (Cavatelli and Fusilloni).
Terre Carsiche 1939
A family tradition from Castellana Grotte (SE of Bari), deeply rooted in Puglia but with strong national and international ambitions.
Surrounded by fertile countryside ideal for quality wine, Terre Carsiche 1939 produces IGT and DOC wines from Gioia del Colle and Valle d’Itria, with vineyards also near Castel del Monte, focusing on celebrated native grapes.
Cava Bianca – Bianco IGT Valle d’Itria, Barrel-Aged
A virtuous blend of Bianco d’Alessano, Chardonnay, and Fiano.
Each grape contributes to a silky harmony with strong character and lingering aromas. After French oak barrel aging, the wine undergoes further aging 60 meters underground in the Castellana Caves. Unique.
Fanova Riserva Primitivo Gioia del Colle DOC
Hand-selected grapes and barrel aging produce a powerful yet velvety Primitivo, captivating for minutes after each sip—a wine you won’t forget.
