Chateau Trotanoy is an elegant estate on the right bank of Bordeaux. We are talking about Pomerol.

The estate boasts 7.2 hectares of vineyards planted with 90 percent Merlot and the remaining with Cabernet Franc.

Ninety percent of the vineyards are dedicated to the production of the first wine (the one we tasted), while the remaining from the younger vines goes to Esperance de Trotanoy.

Chateau Trotanoy

I was intrigued by Jane Austin’s description in her “Inside Bordeaux,” where she defines it as the estate with the perfect approach to Pomerol.

This 2000 vintage, perfectly intact and still with great potential, presents a fascinating nose that immediately makes you want to drink it.

Its elegance stands out, along with a sensation of freshness given by hints of mint and eucalyptus.

On the palate, there is still a sensation of freshness with dynamic and lively salinity. A great progression in the mouth with a wonderful salty finish.  Rating 95
